With today’s business market becoming increasingly competitive, the need for businesses to continuously educate themselves on trends and regulatory developments in the alternative risk market is essential. Businesses require a broad understanding of the changing regulatory environment, and in depth information for success in the captive insurance marketplace. These are advantages that CIC-DC offers its members, continuously helping them to stay abreast of the opportunities in the dynamic captive insurance market in the District of Columbia.

Membership in CIC-DC is open to all captive insurance companies licensed in the District of Columbia and to all individuals and entities with a genuine interest in the promotion, development, and maintenance of captive insurance in the District.

 Membership Categories

CIC-DC has four Categories of Membership: Captive Insurance Company (Corporate or Association), Industry Service Provider, Affiliate and Non-Profit.

Captive Insurance Company (Corporate or Association): Any captive insurer formed under the District of Columbia’s captive-enabling legislation and licensed by the Department of Insurance and Securities Regulation of the District of Columbia. This category also includes captive insurance programs in formation. Captive Insurance Company members have voting privileges and may serve on CIC-DC’s Board of Directors and committees.

Dues: $500 U.S. per year

Non Profit Entity: Any legally formed organization not created, conducted and maintained for the purpose of making a profit with any net earnings are used by the organization for the purposes of which it was established.

Dues: $350 U.S. per year

Industry Service Provider: Any person or legally formed firm that provides products or services to the captive insurance community, including captive insurance companies. Industry Service Provider members have voting privileges and are eligible to serve on the CIC-DC Board of Directors and Committees.

Dues: $750 U.S. per year

Affiliate: Any wholly-owned subsidiary of a captive insurance company or industry service provider (see above definitions). Affiliate members have voting privileges and are eligible to serve on the CIC-DC Board of Directors and Committees.
